Major Grant Stuart Rust CD2 (Ret'd)

Grant was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. by Scottish Immigrants from Aberdeen, Scotland.  He Joined the Canadian Army at the age of 16, initially with the Army Reserves and then the Regular Forces.  He served with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, The Black Watch (RHC) of Canada and the PPCLI.  After 32 years of service at NDHQ Canada, he and his family were posted to Halifax where he planned retirement.  When he finished his career in the Military he became a financial planner and recently retired from that after 20 years.

For over 30 years he has been a member of the Freemasons at St. Andrew's Lodge No. 1, the oldest in Canada.  He has served as Worshipful Master, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Commander-in-Chief of Sovereign Consistory and will be entering the Royal Order of Scotland.

When participating in Nova Scotia's Scottish Culture he became reminded of his own Scottish roots and his family's support of the Stewart/Stuarts and that they were Septs of the Clan Stewart.  He joined our Clan and took on the President's role.  He loves wearing his kilt and the regalia involved.

He lives in Hubbards on the South Shore of Nova Scotia with is wife Julia. They have two grown sons, Andrew and Matthew.  He encourages all Canadians with Scottish Heritage to get involved and enjoy our Scottish Culture. 

President's Message

It is with much pride and honour to have been asked to take the office of President of the Clan Stewart Society of Canada.  Given my family heritage in Scotland it means a lot to me and I hope that I can due perform to the level  of expectation of this position.  I encourage all Scots to get involved and attend the various Scottish events in your Region and wear the tartan with pride.
